Player Background: A former UK county junior and senior champion, and representative. With multiple UK club titles in singles and doubles.

Coach qualification and experience: Matt holds an LTA level 1 coach qualification, with 10 years coaching experience in the UK and 6 years in Hong Kong. He has held positions as a junior development coach in the UK and has brought his experience and knowledge to Hong Kong.

Matt has a passion for player development, and in particular, working with junior and adult players new to the game.

Hobbies / interests outside of tennis?
Golf, Squash, Watching Movies & Seeing Friends

Favourite music / musician / band?
Favourite band to date is still Bon Jovi but will literally listen to anything (apart from Thrash Metal & Opera)

Favourite CHILDHOOD TV / Movie?
Without doubt Star Wars Episode IV

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I’m so old now it’s hard to remember that far back but I will go with Firefighter

Greatest achievement?
That’s a tough one as I have a few. Representing my county at junior level from the age of 6. Moving to Asia in 2003 and making a real good life for myself and winning many Asian Jumbo Doubles Squash tournaments. But, as I am a proud dad then the birth of my daughter is easily my greatest achievement.

BEST advice you’ve received?
My very first coach said that I could accomplish anything with hard work.

Reoccurring comment that featured on your school report cards?
Anything to do with sports and my report card was full of praise and glowing with positives. All other subjects “Could Try Harder”

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
Look after my body more, eat more healthy and most importantly….stretch
